Police Investigating Alleged Theft at EFD

File

The theft and embezzlement probe follows former chief's retirement

Evansville Police are investigating possible theft and embezzlement at the Evansville Fire Department, following last week’s retirement of former chief Paul Anslinger. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

Anslinger received a notice of discipline last Tuesday and retired from the department the same day.

He led the EFD on an interim basis between September and January after former Chief Mike Connelly retired following allegations that he recorded video of a subordinate without her consent.

Evansville Police now say they’re investigating a case of theft and embezzlement with a value of at least $750 from the fire department headquarters on SE 8th St.

It’s not clear if the investigation is linked to Anslinger.

EPD Sgt. Trudy Day is asking for patience from the news media while detectives complete what she calls a “thorough investigation.”
