The ongoing, multi-agency investigation started last fall

Evansville Police have arrested two people in an investigation of stolen checks totaling millions of dollars. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The EPD says the probe began in fall of 2023 and led to the arrests this week of 44-year-old Michael Jerome Wright and 35-year-old Cortney L. Young.

Investigators say checks were stolen after being placed in Post Office mailboxes throughout the city.

Evansville Police arrested Wright and Young with the assistance of the FBI, the Secret Service and the U.S. Postal Inspector.

The EPD calls it an ongoing investigation that involves many checks totaling several million dollars.

If you have information or see any suspicious behavior that could be related to the illegal activity, you’re asked to contact the EPD’s Financial Crimes Unit at 812-436-7991 or the EPD Tip Line at 812-435-6194.
