Standoff in Evansville Ends Peacefully

File

EPD: Ronald Fenwick, 39, held police at bay for nearly 2 hours

A man barricaded himself in an Evansville home for nearly two hours before surrendering. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

Police say 39-year-old Ronald Fenwick was seen sitting outside a home in the 3200 block of Kratzville Road on Thursday.

Fenwick had an active warrant for failing to appear in Vanderburgh County Circuit Court last month.

The EPD says officers could approach him, Fenwick went inside the house and barricaded himself.

An adult and at least two children safely got out of the house.

The EPD's Special Weapons and Tactics units arrived, officers blocked nearby streets, and negotiators began speaking with Fenwick.

The efforts were successful and Fenwick surrendered peacefully.

He was wanted for unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, intimidation with a deadly weapon, and domestic battery.
