EPD: Two more suspects are wanted

Police have arrested a suspect and continue to look for two more following a double homicide on Evansville’s West Side. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

A police affidavit says 30-year-old Richard Dee Garrett was taken into custody in connection with the deaths of 31-year-old Michael Blankenship Jr. of Evansville and 37-year-old Mitchell Greathouse of Newburgh.

Their bodies were found last weekend in a home in the 2600 block of Mt. Vernon Ave.

The affidavit states Garrett drove the shooter and another person to the home, but Garrett said he thought the men were going to commit a robbery not murder.

Police have not released the names of the other two suspects.

In 2021, Garrett admitted to fatally shooting 29-year-old Douglas Todd Ferguson but said it was in self-defense.

Garrett eventually pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine but was never charged in Fulkerson's death.

Garrett is also the former CEO of the social media service Evansville 411 News.
