EPD: The disturbing case involved an infant bitten more than 50 times by rodents

Three people face charges in a disturbing case of child neglect in Evansville.

Police affidavits say a six-month-old child sustained more than 50 rodent bites inside a home in the 1600 block on S. Linwood Ave.

Police say the child was taken to a local hospital where staff stabilized him and then transferred the boy to an Indianapolis hospital.

Authorities say weeks earlier, an Indiana Department of Child Services worker determined the house had a rodent infestation.

The baby’s parents, David and Angel Schonabaum, face multiple neglect charges.

A family member, 25-year-old Delaina Thurman, was also jailed on a charge of neglect.

Police described squalid conditions inside the home.

Two other children living there were turned over to Child Services.
