Federal programs put more troopers on the roads

Indiana State Police are stressing safety this Labor Day weekend. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

The ISP is participating in federally funded programs that allow extra troopers to patrol Hoosier highways during the three-day weekend.

The agency says efforts are focused on aggressive drivers, distracted drivers, impaired drivers, and drivers and passengers not buckled up.

The ISP urges you to not drive distracted, avoid tailgating, use your turn signals, obey speed limits, make sure everyone is buckled up, and don’t drive impaired by drugs or alcohol.

If you do see a possibly impaired driver, you’re asked to call 911 and give the vehicle’s description, location, direction of travel, and license plate if possible.

The ISP also asks drivers to be courteous to others on the roads.
