Police Use "Chemical Agents" to End Standoff

VCSO

Task force officers arrested Jeremy Wood on a felony warrant Thursday afternoon

Law enforcement used chemical agents to get a wanted man out of an Evansville home. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says deputies assigned to the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force attempted to serve a felony arrest warrant for 41-year-old Jeremy Wood at 1501 S. Boeke Road Thursday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office says officers made contact with residents and confirmed that the suspect was inside the house.

For nearly 90 minutes, Task Force Officers issued warnings from outside using loud speakers and from inside the house for the suspect to surrender.

The sheriff’s office says officers requested and received a judicially signed search warrant for the home to search for the suspect inside.

Just before 3 p.m., the sheriff’s office says “chemical agents were introduced” into the house and Wood surrendered three minutes later.

He was taken into custody without further incident.

Evansville Police assisted, and both AMR and the Evansville Fire Department were on scene during the use of the chemical agents.
