Five-month-old Jett Leon Goldsby was removed from life-support last week

An Evansville couple faces a new charge after the death of a baby. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

Cheyenne Elmore-Sitz and Javontae Goldsby now face a charge of Neglect Resulting in Death after five-month-old Jett Leon Goldsby was removed from life-support at an Indianapolis children’s hospital.

Doctors said the boy had no brain activity and no prospect of recovery.

Jett’s parents called 911 on July 26th when they found him in his bed, not breathing.

The sheriff’s office says Evansville firefighters restored a pulse and the boy was taken to a local hospital.

Authorities said an examination revealed that Jett had sustained a skull fracture, retinal hemorrhages, and bleeding on the brain indicative of an impact and being violently shaken.

The boy was transferred to the Indianapolis hospital and deputies arrested Goldsby and Elmore-Sitz.

The Department of Child Services removed a one-and-a-half year-old sibling from the home and placed the child in foster care.
