Police say they’ve ended an ATM crime spree. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
Evansville Police say the description from an attempted ATM theft in Mt. Vernon early Thursday was consistent with previous thefts in the Evansville area.
The offenders are known to travel from Texas, steal a large pickup truck, and place equipment in it that can pull open an ATM’s vault doors.
The EPD received a report of a stolen Ford F-350 after the attempted ATM theft in Mt. Vernon.
Sgt. Anna Gray says police spotted the stolen truck, tracked the suspects to a fast food restaurant, and pulled the truck over after it left the eatery.
Officers and detectives arrested all four occupants identified as 27-year-old Leroy Mouton Jr., 22-year-old Mark Dwellingham, 22-year-old Anthony Smith, and 19-year-old Marvin Dock Jr., all from Texas.
They face charges of Auto Theft, Conspiracy, and Criminal Gang Activity.
The EPD says its investigators collaborated with other agencies on a plan that led to the arrest of the suspects.
