Mt. Vernon Man Charged in Infant's Death

File

An autopsy determined baby's death was a homicide

Police have arrested a Mt. Vernon father following the death of his infant daughter. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Indiana State Police say 26-year-old Devin Morrison faces a charge of Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Death.

The arrest came a week after first responders found nine-month-old Naiarii Kaczmarek unresponsive at a home in the 400 block of E. 5th St. in Mt. Vernon.

An ambulance took the child to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital where she later died.

Police said the little girl had signs of trauma and her injuries were suspicious.

An autopsy was conducted this week and the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office determined the child died from a subdural hemorrhage due to multiple skull fractures.

The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Morrison is being held without bond at the Posey County Jail.
