COVID Vaccinations, Boosters Continue to Climb in Vanderburgh County

File

Local boosters top 47,000 as calls increase to redefine "fully vaccinated"

Vaccinations and booster shots against COVID-19 continue to rise in Vanderburgh County. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The Indiana Department of Health counted 134 more vaccinations in the county on its Monday dashboard.

Vanderburgh’s number of vaccinated residents topped 100,200

The agency also tallied nearly 250 more booster shots, raising the local total above 47,000.

The numbers were reported amid increasing calls for changing the qualification for being fully vaccinated.

Currently, health officials consider a person vaccinated if they’ve had both shots of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the single shot from Johnson and Johnson.

But some are calling for booster shots to be required before considering a person fully vaccinated.
