Still nearly 300 new cases in Vanderburgh, more than 100 in Warrick

One new COVID 19-related death and hundreds more infections are reported in southwest Indiana. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:

The Indiana Department of Health announced Dubois County’s 155th death of the pandemic.

The agency also tallied nearly 300 new infections in Vanderburgh County and more than 100 in Warrick County on the Tuesday dashboard.

The infection totals were trending downward.

Positivity rates remained above 30 percent in Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Posey counties. Gibson County’s rate topped 40 percent.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana was down seven to 253 with just 20 percent of intensive care beds available.

Across Indiana, the agency tallied 131 more COVID-related deaths and more than 5,600 new cases.
