Newburgh man killed in scooter crash

A Newburgh man is dead following a crash involving a scooter and two other vehicles.

The Vanderburgh County Coroners’s Office identified the victim as 50-year-old Thomas "Bryon" Rump.

An email from the coroner states Rump died at the scene of the crash on Lynch Road near State Road 62 -- close to the Vanderburgh-Warrick county line -- Monday evening.

Evansville Police said Rump was riding the scooter on Lynch when he was rear-ended by a car and thrown from the bike.

Rump was then hit by a truck.

The driver of the car was taken for a blood draw but police don't suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The coroner’s office scheduled an autopsy for Tuesday evening.

The mishap forced authorities to shut down a portion of Lynch Road for a while Monday evening.
