USI Hires New Dean

University of Southern Indiana

USI has hired a new dean of students.

The university says Dr. Jennifer Hammat has accepted the position, following a national search.

Hammat currently serves as a Title IX coordinator at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

She starts at USI May 6th.

In a news release, USI Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Marcia Kiessling says Hammat has “a great deal of experience in higher education that will be an asset to the Dean of Students Office as well as to the University.”

Kiessling also says Hammet has “a passion for working with students.”

Hammat holds doctorate and master's degree in higher education administration from Texas Tech University, and a bachelor's degree in organizational communication from Murray State in Kentucky.

Dr. Hammat will assume the position previously held by Dr. Bryan Rush.

Assistant professor of political science Dr. Nick LaRowe is currently serving as interim dean of students.
