Evansville Drug Suspect Accused of Leading Officers on Highway 41 Chase

File

An Evansville man is accused of leading police on a chase that ended in crashes on Highway 41.

A Vanderburgh County sheriff’s deputy began chasing a vehicle on southbound 41 near Petersburg Road shortly after 1:00 Thursday afternoon.

The deputy told Central Dispatch that the vehicle contained a man wanted on felony warrants.

In a release, the sheriff office said the suspect, 26-year-old Darrell Lee Cohoon, hit a stopped vehicle at St. George Road – causing minor damage.

Deputies said Cohoon continued southbound for a short distance before hitting a concrete median, and he was taken into custody.

An ambulance took Cohoon to a hospital for minor injuries.

The sheriff’s office says he faces multiple charges, including Dealing Methamphetamine, dealing the narcotic fentanyl, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Hit and Run.
