Fire Extinguished at Hoosier Stamping; Business Continues

File

Evansville firefighters extinguished a blaze at a West Side business.

Firefighters were dispatched to Hoosier Stamping at 1826 W. Franklin Street just before 9:00 Wednesday morning.

When they arrived three minutes later, smoke was coming from the roof and employees were evacuating the building.

In a release, Division Chief Mike Larson said the fire was in a commercial oven.

He said employees had tried to put out the fire with an extinguisher but were not successful.

Larson said fire companies extinguished the fire in about 15 minutes and then ventilated smoke from the structure.

He said no one was injured and the business was able to return to operations.
