Two people are dead following an officer-involved shooting on Evansville’s West Side.
It happened late Tuesday night at a home in the 1800 block of Stinson Ave., in the Howell neighborhood.
Multiple media outlets say police responded to a report of a murder and kidnapping.
EPD Sgt. Anna Gray told WFIE TV that officers arrived and ordered the occupants out of the house.
She said a man emerged carrying what looked to be a handgun and he refused to follow police commands.
Gray said officers opened fire, killing the man.
Officers then found another deceased person inside the home.
Gray said several other people were inside, including children, but they were not injured.
There’s no word yet on the names of the deceased or the circumstances that led to the deaths.
