One-thousand more Vanderburgh County residents have gotten a vaccine or a booster shot to fight COVID-19.

The Indiana Department of Health added 228 local residents to the list of fully vaccinated, while more than 800 received a booster shot.

The Monday dashboard also showed no new COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, Gibson, Pike, Dubois, or Spencer counties.

Just 23 infections were added in Vanderburgh County. That number typically runs lower on Mondays, while vaccinations and boosters skew higher.

Vanderburgh’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals dipped just below 20 percent.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana fell to 139 with about a third of intensive care beds available.

Across Indiana, the agency recorded just one new coronavirus-related death and about 700 new infections.
