Suspect Arrested After Chase, Crash, and School Closing

File

A theft suspect is in custody after a police chase, a crash, and a school closing in Gibson County.

Police were alerted to a theft at the Menard’s store in Princeton Thursday evening and a sheriff’s deputy spotted the suspect vehicle on Highway 41.

In a release, the sheriff’s office said a pursuit began southbound on 41 from Fort Branch, and officers employed stop sticks on the highway near Haubstadt.

The sheriff’s office said as it approached the stop sticks, the suspect vehicle hit a parked police cruiser.

At that point, one of the occupants got out and ran.

A lengthy search failed to find the suspect, so the South Gibson School Corporation closed its schools in the area out of an “abundance of caution.”

Later, police were called to a suspicious man walking along I-69, near I-64.

After a brief roadside investigation, the sheriff’s office said officers arrested 33-year-old Logan Robert Brandewie of Evansville.

He’s being held at the Gibson County jail on charges including Possession of Methamphetamine, Fleeing Law Enforcement, and Criminal Recklessness.

Brandewie was also wanted on a felony warrant out of Vanderburgh County.
