Police have arrested a Gibson County man accused of killing his mother.
Authorities were called to a wooded area near Lyles Station on Wednesday and found a deceased woman, later identified as 72-year-old Viola Clardy.
She had been missing since Sunday night.
In a release, Gibson County Coroner Barrett Doyle said an autopsy determined Clardy’s death was a homicide.
The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office says Clardy’s son, 47-year-old David Crowe, admitted to stabbing her at her home on Lyles Station Road.
The sheriff’s office said Crowe identified two knives inside the home that he said were used in the stabbing and told them where to find Clardy’s personal items.
Deputies arrested Crowe on a preliminary charge of murder. He was being held without bond.
There was no word on a motive.
