Sprinklers Help Extinguish Fire at Park 41
A fire official is touting the importance of sprinkler systems following an early morning business fire in Evansville.
Firefighters were dispatched to Park 41 – the former Whirlpool plant – on Highway 41 at about 2:45 Wednesday morning.
In a release, EFD Division Chief Mike Larson said the first crew on the scene reported light smoke and found an area of fire that had been mostly extinguished by the plant’s sprinkler system.
Larson said the fire damage was mostly contained to some contents and an interior wall of the business.
He said the fire was accidental and no injuries were reported.
Larson said video footage showed the fire starting and the sprinkler system putting it out.
