An underage driver is accused of leading police on a late night chase that ended in a crash in Warrick County.

Indiana State Police say a trooper patrolling the area of State Road 261 and Oak Grove Road just before midnight saw the driver of a pickup truck pull off the Huck’s Market parking lot without stopping and failing to signal.

In a release, the ISP said the trooper engaged his lights and siren but the driver refused to stop, looped around a sub-division, and reached speeds of 85 miles an hour on Fuquay Road.

Police said driver lost control of the truck and hit an abandoned building in the 700 block of Lincoln in the town of Chandler.

The ISP said the male driver and passenger exited the vehicle and surrendered.

Police said they were both 14-years-old and from Newburgh.

The passenger was released to his parents. The 14-year-old driver was arrested and taken to Southwest Youth Village in Vincennes.

He faces charges including Resisting Law Enforcement, Unauthorized Control of a Vehicle, and Reckless Driving.
