Toddler Dies Five Days After Being Found in Pool

File

A two-year-old boy has died after being found in a swimming pool in Vanderburgh County.

The Sheriff’s Office says the boy’s father discovered the child in an above-ground  pool outside a home on Old Cannon Way in the Strawberry Hill subdivision last Friday.

The father said he had checked on his son about five minutes prior.

The boy apparently exited the rear of the house and walked into the pool from an adjoining deck.

The sheriff’s office said dispatchers gave CPR instructions to the father, and deputies and medics eventually restored a pulse.

The child was taken to a hospital and placed on life support, but the sheriff’s office said despite all efforts, it was determined the child could not survive and was taken off life support Wednesday.

The coroner’s office has not yet released the boy’s name.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana Department of Child Services are investigating the tragedy.
