A Vanderburgh County man is dead following a motorcycle crash on the West Side.
The County Coroner’s Office identified the victim of Tuesday night’s crash at Highway 66 and Detroy Road as 48-year-old John Hatfield.
In a release, Coroner Steve Lockyear said Hatfield died of blunt force trauma.
The sheriff’s office said the motorcycle driven by Hatfield collided with a car.
First responders found his Harley Davidson in the median and a Honda sedan in a ditch.
Hatfield died at the scene. The sheriff’s office said the driver of the car was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators said there was no evidence of alcohol or drug use, but witnesses said Hatfield was speeding and driving aggressively.
The crash forced authorities to shut down the westbound lanes of 66 for two hours.
