Deceased Inmate Identified as 64-Year-Old Man

File

Authorities have released the identity of an inmate who died in the Vanderburgh County jail this week.

The coroner’s office said 64-year-old Edwin Faulkner died at the jail early Tuesday morning.

Coroner Steve Lockyear scheduled an autopsy for Wednesday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office said Faulkner was found unresponsive in his cell and confinement officers and jail medical staff began CPR.

Evansville firefighters and AMR arrived a short time later to assist.

The sheriff’s office said medics ceased resuscitation efforts after orders from a physician.

Foul play was NOT suspected.

Faulkner’s death was the third reported at the local jail this year.

25-year-old Duane Garry Jr. was found unresponsive in the booking area last month and 77-year-old William Pease was discovered unresponsive in his cell back in February.
