Former New Harmony Marshal Arrested for Attempted Murder

ISP

A former New Harmony Town Marshall is out of the hospital and in jail.

Indiana State Police say 70-year-old Paul Wiltshire was released from Deaconess Midtown Hospital Wednesday afternoon and then arrested for the attempted murder of Posey County Sheriff’s Deputy Bryan Hicks.

In a release, the ISP said troopers took Wiltshire to the Posey County Jail where he was booked for the Level 1 Felony and then transferred to the Warrick County Jail, where he’s being held without bond.

Police say the 41-year-old Hicks was shot in the head during an exchange of gunfire between officers and Wiltshire outside his home in New Harmony Saturday evening.

Wiltshire was wounded multiple times. Hicks remains hospitalized.
