Three local projects are among those getting funding to help stop violence against women.
The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute announced the grants Monday from STOP Violence Against Women formula funding. Over fifty projects totaling more than three million dollars will be funded under the program.
In Vanderburgh County, the sheriff’s office was awarded $70,547 to pay for a deputy assigned to an investigations unit that provides specific, individualized services to victims of domestic, family and sexual violence.
The Vanderburgh County prosecutor’s office was awarded $68,563 to fund that office’s Domestic Violence Task Force, and the Albion Fellow Bacon Center received $34,001 to provide intervention and advocacy services to sexual and domestic violence victims.
