The COVID-19 Crisis Response Fund of the Greater Evansville Region announced its final round of grants Thursday.
After giving out more than $5.5 million to support area non-profit agencies dealing with the pandemic, the response fund is shutting down its regular disbursement process.
The $1 million remaining in the fund will be awarded through a one-time request for proposals. Those award winners will be announced later this month.
Among the grantees in round twenty are Catholic Charities, which received $37,000 to increase the hours of a part-time counselor working with people without insurance. Several of the grants awarded are for agencies addressing mental health needs in the community.
Forefront Community Therapy was awarded $30,000 to hire a bilingual staff member to assist with translating for patients getting physical and occupational therapy.
