Two more COVID 19-related deaths are reported in southwest Indiana, along with hundreds of new infections.

The Indiana Department of Health announced Vanderburgh County’s 425th death of the pandemic and the 122nd death in Dubois County.

More than 200 new infections were logged in Vanderburgh, 92 in Warrick, 68 in Gibson, and eleven in Posey County.

New vaccinations did outnumber new infections in Vanderburgh County, with 232 residents joining the ranks of fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The county’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals stood at just below 25 percent on the Thursday dashboard.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients across the 12-county region of southwest Indiana rose slightly to 271. That number dipped as low as 15 in late June.

Thursday’s data showed only about 20 percent of intensive care beds are available in the 12-county district.

Across Indiana, 50 new coronavirus-related deaths were added with more than 5,200 new infections as the delta variant continued to spread the virus.
