An Evansville man convicted of kidnapping and shooting a woman more than a decade ago has been killed in a northern Indiana prison.
State Police say 42-year-old Michael Koch was found deceased in the Miami Correctional Facility in Bunker Hill on Sunday.
In a release, the ISP said investigators suspect foul play and are treating Koch’s death as a homicide.
An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
A jury convicted Koch of abducting his former girlfriend, shooting her in the ankle, and driving her to New Mexico. He eventually took her to Oklahoma City, where police arrested him.
A judge sentenced Koch to 45 years in prison in 2010, after he was found guilty of criminal confinement, battery, kidnapping, and robbery.
