The popular destination for school groups is hosting its first tours since the pandemic began.

Last week, a group of thirty K-6 graders from the Boom Squad’s Black Lemonade summer camp became the first tour at the Vanderburgh Humane Society in sixteen months.

VHS Education Coordinator Cyndi Hoon-Donley says their last tour before COVD-19 shut down the shelter was on March 6, 2020. Once they opened back up in 2021, group tour bookings were slow, but now it’s business as usual at the Humane Society.

Hoon-Donley says, “They’re picking up now though. I think everybody’s desperate for some entertainment and some educational opportunities.”

In July, the Vanderburgh Humane Society has a Harry Potter-themed adoption eventscheduled.
