Coroner: Artery Tear, Internal Bleeding Killed Roller Coaster Rider

File

A coroner says a woman who was unresponsive after riding a roller coaster at a southern Indiana theme park died of internal bleeding.

An autopsy revealed a tear in an artery led to the death of 47-year-old Dawn Jankovic of Brunswork, Ohio after she rode the Voyage roller coaster at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari on June 4th.

A release from Dubois County Coroner Katie Schuck listed three causes of death, including the roller coaster.

But Schuck said while the force of the rollercoaster caused the tear, there was no problem or malfunction with the ride.

An inspection by Holiday World staff found no problems.

Jankovic's death was ruled an accident.
