Late Night Fire Displaces Residents

File

Evansville firefighters extinguished a late night house fire.

Firefighters were dispatched to 107 E Louisiana St. just before midnight Tuesday and found flames coming from the windows and door at the rear of the house.

In a release, EFD Division Chief Mike Larson said crews had trouble completely extinguishing the fire due to the construction of the home.

It originated on the first floor and worked its way through the second floor to the attic. The fire was considered extinguished in about an hour.

The EFD said the occupants were not home at the time but two dogs were inside. One dog fled when firefighters entered the house and the other was rescued and treated by EFD and AMR personnel.

The Red Cross was notified to assist the occupants.

Larson said the fire was determined to have been electrical and will be ruled accidental.
