Evansville Police are stressing safety at this weekend’s fireworks display.
The City of Evansville will host Fireworks on the Ohio along Dress Plaza on Independence Day.
In a release, the EPD reminds people that children under the age of 18 should be supervised by a parent. Police also urge parents to take a picture of their child with their phone in case that child gets lost or fails to return.
Sgt. Nick Winsett said the picture can be forwarded to police for identification purposes.
Among items not allowed on the riverfront on the Fourth of July: Skateboards, bicycles, scooters, drones or remote controlled aircraft, and fireworks – except for the professional display that starts after dark.
Police also ask that you report any suspicious items or activity.
The EPD says officers will direct traffic at several intersections after the fireworks.
Some intersections will be temporarily closed to avoid gridlock.
