Now that mowing season is in full swing, officials urge you to keep grass clippings out of the streets.
The Evansville City Engineer’s Office says grass clippings can clog-up storm sewers and create flooding when it rains.
The office says clippings also make roadways slippery and dangerous, especially for motorcycles.
In a flyer, officials urge everyone to blow or sweep clippings onto your property, not into the streets.
The city says grass clippings are considered an “illicit discharge,” and violators can be fined.
To report a violation, you can call 812-436-4477 or email Karan Barnhill at kbarnhill@evansville.in.gov.
