The United Way of Southwestern Indiana has received a sizable grant to help the area recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Indiana United Ways has granted nearly one million dollars to the local Posey and Gibson county United Ways. The money will be used in conjunction with the COVID-19 Crisis Response Fund of the Greater Evansville Region. That fund will be responsible for deciding where the money should go locally to invigorate the area after the pandemic.

Last spring, the state organization received a $30 million grant from the Lilly Endowment - that is funding United Way's COVID-19 Economic Relief Initiative.

With this money - Evansville's COVID-19 Crisis Response Fund will surpass it's $6 million dollar fundraising goal.
