Evansville Police are urging residents to NOT use fireworks this Memorial Day weekend.
The City of Evansville has a very specific municipal code on fireworks, and they are illegal until June 29th.
On its Facebook page, the EPD says code violations include fines of $25 for a first offense, $100 for a second offense, and $250 for a third and subsequent offenses.
Legal fireworks are allowed from June 29th through July 9th, from sunset to two hours after sunset, but no later than 10:30 p.m.
An exception is the Fourth of July, when fireworks are okay from 10:00 a.m. until midnight.
Fireworks are also allowed on New Year’s Eve until 1:00 a.m. New Year’s Day.
