Evansville Police have arrested a young woman accused of dragging an officer with her car and running over his arm.
The EPD says Officer Nathan Jones was flagged down by a man on Heidelbach Avenue at Diamond just before noon Monday.
The man told Jones he was involved in a domestic dispute and he wanted to leave the area.
The EPD says as the officer was speaking to the man, the female involved in the domestic dispute -- later identified as 18-year-old Maeling Smith -- pulled up and started yelling at the male.
Police said Officer Jones told Smith to stay in her car but she refused and continued yelling.
Jones then attempted to place Smith in handcuffs but she retreated to her car, with Jones still holding onto her.
The EPD said Smith then placed the car in reverse and accelerated, dragging the officer for about a city block.
Police said Jones freed himself but the car ran over his right arm.
The EPD said Jones was able to place Smith under arrest.
When more officers arrived, one of them took Jones to a hospital.
Smith was jailed on charges of Battery against a Public Safety Official and Resisting Law Enforcement.
