Evansville Police say a shooting that wounded four people last week began as a fight between two people.
In a release, EPD Public Information Officer Anna Gray said more people joined the altercation in the 800 block of E. Riverside Thursday evening before one of the participants was hit with a baseball bat.
Gray said another man then armed himself with a handgun and fired several rounds in the direction of the man with the bat.
Four people, including the intended target, were wounded.
The man who fired the gun returned to the scene to speak with investigators and police said he cooperated.
The gun believed to have been fired was recovered and the EPD said investigators do not believe anyone else fired a gun during the incident.
The bat believed to have been used during the fight was also found at the scene.
As of Friday afternoon, no criminal charges were filed in the case.
