Deputy Mayor makes announcement on Twitter.
With new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control easing COVID-19 restrictions, starting Tuesday, Evansville officials are easing them here as well.
A tweet, buried in Evansville Deputy Mayor Steve Schaefer’s Twitter feed Friday afternoon, announced the major change in local mask and social distancing measures.
In the tweet, Schaefer said that the local emergency order on masks and distancing which have been in place for the past several months will expire at midnight Monday.
That means as of Tuesday, masks and social distancing will not be required in city owned facilities such as the Ford Center and Mesker Park Zoo. The Evansville-Vanderburgh County Building Authority, which runs the Civic Center is also dropping its mask requirements and capacity limits.
The tweet from Deputy Mayor Schaefer also mentioned that masks will still be required on city buses, which fall under federal regulations.
