Creation Care Conference Looks at Sustainable Living

Faith based groups gathered virtually this past weekend to look at ways to take better care of the environment and ourselves.

During sessions on things like growing your own food from Mary and Roger Winstead and impact investing from Amy Bouchie, the 2021 Creation Care Conference offered tips with the goal of sustainable living and environmental stewardship.

Former Indiana First Lady Judy O’Bannon made the point during a question and answer session that more environmental education is needed in the state.

“A mind change needs to happen so that we realize, first of all that they’re important. It’s serious business for all of us and that we can in some way, connect.”

The conference ended with an in-depth look at Evansville’s Climate Action Plan, which was announced by Mayor Lloyd Winnecke last year.  That plan has a goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2050 and making Evansville a zero waste community.
