EPD: Man Shot and Killed; Dozens of Shots Fired

File

A young Evansville man is dead following a weekend shooting.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 19-year-old Kielyn Toone.

Coroner Steve Lockyear said Toone died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Evansville Police said officers found Toone wounded in an SUV that had knocked over a fence and crashed into two houses in the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Judson St. early Saturday.

In a release, EPD Sgt. Nick Winsett said officers rendered aid to the victim and additional officers dealt with crowd control.

Winsett said the shooting stemmed from a birthday party in the 300 block of Taylor Ave.

The EPD said officers recovered more than 50 shell casings and they say at least three different caliber guns were involved.

Anyone with more information on the shooting is asked to call Evansville Police at 812-436-7979, or the We Tip Line at 800-78-CRIME.
