State Trooper Arrested for Alleged Assault, False Reporting

ISP

A southern Indiana state trooper has been arrested for alleged sexual battery.

Indiana State Police say Ryan L. Griffith, a four-year veteran of the ISP, was arrested following an investigation into the alleged incident in late February.

In a release, the ISP said it was originally reported to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, which then requested state police in Jasper conduct the investigation.

Investigators say Griffith was off duty when he allegedly touched the female victim in an unwanted manner at a private residence in Crawford County.

Griffith is also accused of providing false information to police during the investigation.

He faces charges of Sexual Battery and False Reporting.

Police said Griffith was taken into custody without incident on Thursday and incarcerated in the Crawford County Jail, where he was being held on a $7,500.00 cash bond.

He has been placed on administrative leave without pay.
