Firefighters have extinguished a house fire on Evansville's near-North Side.
Crews were dispatched to the blaze in the 700 block of E. Florida St., east of Garvin, at about 7:15 Wednesday morning.
The first unit on the scene reported “heavy fire” coming from the rear of the house.
A chief on the scene said a neighboring house was also exposed to the flames, and at least two neighboring homes were evacuated.
There was no word of injuries.
The fire was reportedly “tapped out” in about 45 minutes.
The Evansville Fire Department contacted the Red Cross from the scene to assist displaced residents.
