The death of an Owensboro man on Evansville’s North Side is now being investigated as a fatal hit-and-run.
The body of 74-year-old James Eugene Rich was found in a ditch along Highway 41 near Lynch Road Thursday morning.
In a Friday release, EPD officer Taylor Merriss said police believe Rich was struck by a vehicle that left the scene.
The EPD says the last time the victim was seen was at 1:40 a.m Thursday. His body was found about five hours later.
Anyone who witnessed an accident, a suspicious vehicle, or a reckless driver in the area of 41 and Lynch Road between the hours of 1:40 and 6:45 Thursday morning -- or has any more information on the incident – is urged to call the Evansville Police Department at 812-436-7979.
