Authorities are investigating the death of an infant who was found unconscious at an Evansville apartment complex.
Evansville Police were called to the 2500 block of Sunburst Blvd. at about 9:15 Thursday night for a one-week-old that wasn’t breathing.
In a release, the EPD says when officers arrived an ambulance crew was attempting to revive the baby.
The girl’s mother told authorities she had fed her around 9:00 p.m. and then placed her in a swing. About 15 minutes later, she went to check on the child and discovered she wasn’t breathing.
The EPD says the ambulance crew took the baby to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Evansville Police, Detectives, and Department of Child Services are investigating the child’s death.
The baby’s identity has not been released.
