EVPL to Expand Hours, In-Person Services

The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library plans to expand its hours next week.

The EVPL says limited in-person services will be extended at all library locations beginning next Monday, March 15th.

The public will be allowed to visit libraries Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

In-person hours are currently restricted to four hours per day.

In a release, library CEO-Director Scott Kinney said the system is excited to offer more time for patrons to visit the libraries “after an unprecedented year.”

Officials say EVPL buildings and procedures have been modified to minimize the risk of potential COVID exposure, including Plexiglass in high-traffic areas, distancing reminders, and rearranged furniture.

Computer stations have also been shifted to ensure social distancing and meeting rooms and study rooms will remain closed to the community and staff.

Library visitors will still be expected to wear a face covering, and spokeswoman Heather McKinney says masks will be available for anyone who needs one.

McKinney says the curbside pickup service EVPL to Go will continue during the expanded hours.
