Ohio River Rises Above Flood Stage; Flooding to Stay for Days

File

The swollen Ohio River is forecast to stay above flood stage for several days.

The National Weather Service has extended a Flood Warning for the Ohio at Evansville until Thursday afternoon.

The river is already above the 42-foot flood level.

Forecasters say it will crest more than a foot above flood stage on Sunday, before starting a slow fall.

The weather service says minor flooding will continue until Thursday, when the Ohio is forecast to slip below 42 feet.

When the river is at 42 feet in Evansville, it’s 3300 feet wide.

The flooding has closed many low-lying roads in the Tri-State.
