ISP: Man Leads Police on Chase Along U.S. 41, I-64; Ends Near Poseyville

File

Police have arrested a Wadesville man accused of leading officers on a high-speed chase.

Indiana State Police say the trooper spotted a pickup truck traveling 98 miles an hour on southbound Highway 41 near the Toyota plant in Gibson County Wednesday afternoon.

In a release, the ISP said the trooper tried to stop the truck but the driver continued speeding south.

Police said the driver, later identified as 39-year-old Joshua Reese of Wadesville, disregarded the traffic light at SR 68 and then hit a set of stop sticks that were deployed near Warrenton Road.

Even after the stop sticks damaged a rear tire, the ISP said Reese continued west on I-64 reaching speeds of about 85 mph.

Another set of stop sticks were deployed on the interstate in Posey County, and when Reese attempted to exit at Poseyville, he lost control and the truck came to rest in a grassy area.

Reese was taken into custody and troopers said they found a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the truck.

He was taken to the Posey County Jail and faces preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement, Reckless Driving, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
