Crash on Icy I-69 Kills Driver

One person is dead following a crash on icy pavement in western Kentucky. 

It happened at about 6:30 Tuesday evening on northbound I-69 in Hopkins County.

In a release, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office said the driver lost control of a northbound vehicle at the 101 mile marker.

The sheriff’s office said the roadway was iced over when the vehicle ran off the highway and hit a rock wall.

The vehicle then overturned and came to rest on its left side.

The driver, 44-year-old Steven Kinder, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, 35-year-old Bobbie Ayers, was not injured.

The sheriff’s office said neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
